Cambridge Evening News Wednesday, January

More than 1,000 singers crammed into Great St Mary's Curch in Cambridge
on Sunday for a come-and-sing concert in aid of the tsunami appeal. The
concert has so far raised £8,600 and there is still more money to
come in. An audience of 200 also managed to squeeze into the church and
there was also a large unofficial audience of people braving the cold
on King's Parade. The concert was conducted by three Cambridge
musicians - Christopher Brown, Timothy Brown and Ralph Woodward. The
Sinfonia of Cambridge gave their services for free, as did the team of
soloists from Cambridge and London. The choir singers came from
all over Cambrigeshire and East Anglia. Some came from Birmingham,
London, Brighton, and even Brussels.
